Toshi visits the waterfall

Toshi has been really good walking on a leash so I decided to take him to the falls on the river White Cart to see his reaction.

The journey there was not uneventful, it was a really hot day and I passed a lot of offices on route where the doors were open to let some air in. Of course Toshi decided to run into each and every one of them! All the office workers left their desks to have a closer look and pet him, which of course made him more determined to get into the next open door LOL

As is becoming the normal everyone in the street also had to come over and see him close up, if I had a quid for every time I have heard ‘I have never seen such a gorgeous cat’ all my financial worries would be over.

When we got to the falls there were several guys fishing, they all had to pet him and ask about his breed etc, one guy in particular was really interested and I spent a good half hour chatting with him about cats & dogs and pedigree breeding issues.

Toshiaki Has Arrived

Towanreef Prince Toshiaki (Toshi) arrived home on Friday 25th June 2010, waaahooo.

The journey back to Paisley from the other side of Aberdeen was a noisy one, Toshi was not at all happy about being confined to a carrier and constantly let us know. After about 30 minutes on the road we let him out of the carrier to see if that would settle him but it really made little difference.

We stopped off for a bite to eat 2/3 of the way home and let Toshi explore the car, he did settle a bit better after that but still regularly complained.

Spike visits Barshaw Park for the first time

While Spike has been serving 3 months solitary confinement for smuggling corona virus I decided to make him a walking jacket harness and take him outside on a leash, he cannot go out unsupervised because he has absolutely no road sense what so ever and the last time he was out got ran over.

Well he took to the leash quite well, starting off in the back garden within 10 minutes of first putting the jacket on and lately I have been taking him just up the street to a children’s play area. He wont walk up the street but now he has got used to the play area he walks quite nicely round there.

Spike gets a ‘Get out of jail free card’

I took Spike and Loula to the vet on Wednesday to have another Corona Virus serum test done. I had both tested despite Loula being negative at the first test just in case she contracted the virus in the week or so before having them tested.

I got the results on Friday and it was great news, both of them are now sero negative with a Corona Titre of zero, needless to say I had the bedroom door open and Spike back into the living room before the vet even finished speaking.

Latest news on Simba and Cocoa with video

We went to see Simba again last week and pleased to report he is doing very well, he is growing fast and becoming quite the mischievous little monkey

The reason for the visit was twofold, obviously we went to see Simba but Tricia also wanted to have a look at a wee seal lynx bengal kitten. Tricia had sent me a link to look at his photo a couple of times over the previous week and I knew she was going to buy him despite all the protests to the contrary

So all the way to Strathaven The conversation was “I am not buying him I just want to see him and I will decide once I have seen how Simba is when I get him home” to which the reply was “Yeah right, everyone knows you are buying him so why bother denying it” repeated over and over again..

Visited Simba today, new photos available

Tricia and I went to see Simba today so I took the opportunity to get some photos of him.

Simba is now 6 weeks old so he is getting very active to say the least LOL He was a little shy to start with but after a couple of minutes he was running around and getting into mischief like all good Bengal kittens should.

We were introduced to Simba’s half sister Georgie who is a lovely wee girl. Georgie and Simba’s dad is Champagne Charlie but they have different mums, but as Simba’s mum only had one kitten in her litter – Simba – Georgie was fostered by Simba’s mum to give Georgie’s mum a bit less work to do.

Spike has Feline Corona Virus

Poor Spike has contracted feline corona virus

He almost certainly picked it up from Clawdius before Clawdius developed FIP, but Spike is a fit & healthy adult cat so the risk of him developing FIP are quite small.

When Clawdius was confirmed to have FIP I decided I needed to get Spike and Loula tested for corona virus because obviously I don’t want Toshi to end up getting infected – Kittens are at particular risk of CV mutating to the form which causes FIP and especially when they are stressed such as after being re-homed.

So I bundled them both into carriers and took a trip to the vet to get bloods taken. Loula wasn’t really that bothered about the procedure, although I felt a little uncomfortable seeing them having blood taken straight from the jugular :O

Another new arrival due early June 2010..

Well it has been a busy time, if you have been keeping up to date you should know about Toshi arriving in a few weeks but he will not be the only one..

Tricia has also decided to get a Bengal furkid, although it was not nearly as straight forward a decision as mine, there are strange and wonderful things happening and this is a prime example..

You should be aware that Tricia is my pal who was owned by Clawdius, and the sad story of how Clawdius lost the battle against FIP. If not, then go and read the other posts which deal with that then come back to this one
