Latest news on Simba and Cocoa with video

May 26th, 2010 by Louise

We went to see Simba again last week and pleased to report he is doing very well, he is growing fast and becoming quite the mischievous little monkey :)

The reason for the visit was twofold, obviously we went to see Simba but Tricia also wanted to have a look at a wee seal lynx bengal kitten. Tricia had sent me a link to look at his photo a couple of times over the previous week and I knew she was going to buy him despite all the protests to the contrary 😀

So all the way to Strathaven The conversation was “I am not buying him I just want to see him and I will decide once I have seen how Simba is when I get him home” to which the reply was “Yeah right, everyone knows you are buying him so why bother denying it” repeated over and over again..

Visited Simba today, new photos available

April 25th, 2010 by Louise

Simba - 6 Weeks OldTricia and I went to see Simba today so I took the opportunity to get some photos of him.

Simba is now 6 weeks old so he is getting very active to say the least LOL He was a little shy to start with but after a couple of minutes he was running around and getting into mischief like all good Bengal kittens should.

We were introduced to Simba’s half sister Georgie who is a lovely wee girl. Georgie and Simba’s dad is Champagne Charlie but they have different mums, but as Simba’s mum only had one kitten in her litter – Simba – Georgie was fostered by Simba’s mum to give Georgie’s mum a bit less work to do.

Spike has Feline Corona Virus

April 24th, 2010 by Louise

Spike At The ParkPoor Spike has contracted feline corona virus :(

He almost certainly picked it up from Clawdius before Clawdius developed FIP, but Spike is a fit & healthy adult cat so the risk of him developing FIP are quite small.

When Clawdius was confirmed to have FIP I decided I needed to get Spike and Loula tested for corona virus because obviously I don’t want Toshi to end up getting infected – Kittens are at particular risk of CV mutating to the form which causes FIP and especially when they are stressed such as after being re-homed.

So I bundled them both into carriers and took a trip to the vet to get bloods taken. Loula wasn’t really that bothered about the procedure, although I felt a little uncomfortable seeing them having blood taken straight from the jugular :O

Another new arrival due early June 2010..

April 23rd, 2010 by Louise

Well it has been a busy time, if you have been keeping up to date you should know about Toshi arriving in a few weeks but he will not be the only one..

Tricia has also decided to get a Bengal furkid, although it was not nearly as straight forward a decision as mine, there are strange and wonderful things happening and this is a prime example..

You should be aware that Tricia is my pal who was owned by Clawdius, and the sad story of how Clawdius lost the battle against FIP. If not, then go and read the other posts which deal with that then come back to this one 😉

Sad news..

March 30th, 2010 by Louise

Clawdius The Mad 11I have not spent much time on the website lately so this news is from a while ago.

Unfortunately our wee Clawdius developed FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis) and he lost the battle to live on 12th March 2010.

We all miss him dearly and always will, he was such a special wee man, he will be playing happily at Rainbow Bridge until we meet him again.

It is little consolation but his life was not in vain, since he went to Rainbow Bridge we have been doing our best to bring the so called ‘breeder’, who’s poor treatment of these animals was ultimately responsible for Clawdius’s poor health and immune system, to book for their actions. They were keeping three breeding queens in a small room in what the SSPCA described as “Wholly inadequate conditions” and undoubtedly other kittens coming from that source would also be likely to suffer a similar fate.

Simpsons 3D card

February 14th, 2010 by Louise

It’s my pals grandsons 2nd birthday soon and she asked me to make a birthday card along a Simpsons theme.

I had already converted some Simpsons characters to cutting files so decided I would use those to make a 3D card with Bart jumping out of the TV. I don’t have any glossy photo card stiff enough to make the base card so I decided to print it on glossy paper and glue it to a thin card stock before cutting and that’s when the trouble began :(

Basically I create the card graphics and cut lines in Inkscape, the card is then printed with some registration marks, glued to the backing card and then fed into the cutter to cut it out. But when I cut it the cut lines were missing the picture by up to 2mm in places.

My first card commission

February 3rd, 2010 by Louise

My pal Tricia asked me to make her a card for an engagement and I thought it turned out quite well so here it is :)

I wanted to make a 3D card of some description and eventually decided this book idea was the best. I have to admit the concept wasn’t mine, I stole the idea for a ‘Book’ card from Linda who is a fellow member of the Black Cat Forum. My design is completely different in that it is like a real book with pages and has been created completely from scratch by myself.

The card was cut with my Cougar cutter from several different sorts of card stock. The book cover was printed onto hammered card stock and jazzed up with glitter flourishes cut from silver glitter card. The pages of the book were cut from linen card stock and the verse etc printed on before cutting, the glitter border was again cut from silver glitter card.

I have a new cutter :)

January 15th, 2010 by Louise

I have just taken delivery of a new cutter, the BlackCat Cougar, and its ab fab :)

I am getting to grips with the new software so it may be a while before I add any more cutting files but I will try to get some uploaded as quick as I can.

Check out the details of the new cutter on my Digital Craft Cutting page 😉

Another Flower Cutting File..

December 31st, 2009 by Louise

Another flower cutting file for you.

I was suffering CR withdrawal symptoms here at my parents house so snapped a shot of an artificial flower and set about making a cut file for it. Unfortunately I didn’t have the RoboMaster software installed on the laptop, but I managed to find a download for it so I could make the GSD file as well as the usual Illustrator AI file.

This one is a 4 layer print & cut flower template. It’s a bit of a hybrid because the middle bit of the photo I took wasnt very flower like so I knicked the middle from a sunflower photo I found :)
