Sad news..

March 30th, 2010 by Louise

Clawdius The Mad 11I have not spent much time on the website lately so this news is from a while ago.

Unfortunately our wee Clawdius developed FIP (Feline infectious peritonitis) and he lost the battle to live on 12th March 2010.

We all miss him dearly and always will, he was such a special wee man, he will be playing happily at Rainbow Bridge until we meet him again.

It is little consolation but his life was not in vain, since he went to Rainbow Bridge we have been doing our best to bring the so called ‘breeder’, who’s poor treatment of these animals was ultimately responsible for Clawdius’s poor health and immune system, to book for their actions. They were keeping three breeding queens in a small room in what the SSPCA described as “Wholly inadequate conditions” and undoubtedly other kittens coming from that source would also be likely to suffer a similar fate.

The breeder was given strict instructions to cease all breeding activity immediately and also instructed on how to properly care for their cats and their environment by the SSPCA, however we discovered that this had been ignored and finally the SSPCA took action and forcibly removed all the cats from the premises.

So thanks to Clawdius, his mom & latest litter of kittens and the other 2 queens now have a chance of finding a loving home where they will be cared for and given a chance of a better life.

Unfortunately one of my cats (Spike) has contracted the corona virus from Clawdius, but Spike is a fit & healthy adult cat so the chances of it mutating into the form which causes the fatal FIP are quite small. But because he has been confirmed infected he has to be quarantined in the bedroom until his blood tests show he is clear again, it is most unfortunate that this happened just as I finished the new Cat Playground so Spike is unable to take advantage of it yet, but Loula already loves it – check out this video ;)

Anyway, if you were paying attention you will also now know that a new kitten is going to be arriving here ;) and he wont be the only new arrival either but you will have to check out the other posts to find out about that ;)
