It’s my pals grandsons 2nd birthday soon and she asked me to make a birthday card along a Simpsons theme.
I had already converted some Simpsons characters to cutting files so decided I would use those to make a 3D card with Bart jumping out of the TV. I don’t have any glossy photo card stiff enough to make the base card so I decided to print it on glossy paper and glue it to a thin card stock before cutting and that’s when the trouble began
Basically I create the card graphics and cut lines in Inkscape, the card is then printed with some registration marks, glued to the backing card and then fed into the cutter to cut it out. But when I cut it the cut lines were missing the picture by up to 2mm in places.
I tried a second time and got the same results, it was correct in some places and miles out in others. So I made a quick basic file with just a rectangle and tried to correct the problem with that. After much messing about re-calibrating the cutter, adjusting the registration marks and general fiddling I managed to get it to work with the rectangle so transferred the edited registration marks to the card file and tried again.
Still no joy, some bits were correct, others were miles out still. By this point I was getting quite frustrated with it and eventually I begged for help in the support forum. Dawn came to my assistance and we went through a series of manual adjustments to the calibration and test cuts until eventually it was cutting a test page correctly.
I then transferred the reg marks to the card file again and tried cutting again, and this time it worked perfect. At last everything was working fine
But, upon closer inspection I realised that the calibration settings I had ended up with were almost exactly the same as when we started! I have no idea why it now works, but who cares as long as it does

I love photo cards, they are more special than those ordinary greeting cards that is just full of text.~`*
