Paisley Xmas Lights Ceremony 2009 - 24Jingle bells, batman smells..

Yes its that time of year again (Bah Humbug) and Paisley has just had its annual lighting up ceremony which I went to have a butchers at.

I was determined that I was not going to get moved into a position where my photos had an ugly lamp post in the middle of them this time so I positioned myself well back where the crowd wouldn’t reach.. Or so I thought. I still ended up with a few ignorant ned types who thought its perfectly acceptable behaviour to just barge past kicking the tripod on route Grrrr

I had my pal Linda with me to help stand guard to try prevent people from knocking the tripod over, and some older gentleman came and stood next next to us and jumped out waving his arms in front of anyone who even looked like the MIGHT bump into it LOL

Anyway, the ‘do’ involved the usual Clyde 1 road show with special guests Ruth Lorenzo & Lemar among a selection of local musicians. The audio quality was a step up from the bonfire night ‘do’ and at least had some bass to it, but you only got any benefit from it if you were down near the stage because at the back of the crowd you couldn’t hear jack. Now the organizers obviously knew the crowd would stretch that far back because the kindly installed some huge video screen so you could see what was happening on stage, you would have thought they would have stuck some bloody speakers underneath it so we could hear what was happening as well!

Paisley Xmas Lights Ceremony 2009 - 31There were also a number of other attractions there, a farmers market, craft fair, children’s fun fair, a couple of rides for the animals teenagers and a slack handful of other stalls selling the obligatory flashy swords, bunny ears, windmills etc.

The official blumf that dropped through my door stated “..and a spectacular fireworks finale”, I think someone forgot to order the ‘Spectacular’ version and just went for the bog standard one myself. It was over so quick I was lucky to get any shots, by the time I had shot a couple to check focus it was half done LOL

All in all it was a pretty good show though, I suppose its just being greedy to expect a 20 minute spectacular firework display on the 5th AND the 14th November – especially when they are both free :)

So, here are some photos to gander at, if I build up the enthusiasm to walk up there again I will get some better shots of the lights and add them to this post. The lights need photographing at dusk to look their best not when its completely dark.
