Oh no, work again and lens fiasco

September 21st, 2009 by Louise

Well back to work today after spending a week off with some disgusting bug and a stinking cold as well.

I think I should have stayed at home, everything I do is soooo hard work, I am sweating like a sauna tester just picking a screwdriver up never mind anything else.

Anyway, I think there is a photo opportunity in the office, the new board room has a fancy ground glass wall with the company logo etched in which I think may look quite cool back lit. Must remember to bring the camera and a slack handful of flashes sometime.

Well, I suppose I better go back into the shop floor and do something - it’s quite clever this wordpress thingy I am writing this on my mobile phone in my lunch break lol – roll on 4pm that’s all I can say…

Later that day:

4pm arrived and went, managed to get away for 4-30 and shot through to the Royal Mail parcel depot to pick up my replacement lens.

I managed to drop my D80 only from about a foot or so but it buggered the 18-55 lens sitting on the front of it, these plastic kit lenses are not very robust to say the least. The diaphragm blades all sort of came detached and sticking out in odd directions and something else was rattling around in it so I figured I would just buy a new one.

So on to my favourite site in the world, the bay of E, and ordered a new one, that was AGES ago! I sat reading on Friday waiting for my 50mm f/1.8 to arrive (tracking info said it was being delivered and would be there before 1PM) at about 11-30 there was a knock on the door and it was said lens, there was also a ‘You were not in when we called’ card from the royal mail which is for my 18-55 GRRRRRR

So Saturday I go to the depot to pick it up, the required 24 hours having passed, only to be told that it has not been brought back from the street box yet and due to staff a dispute it wont be there till Monday GRRRRRR

So today I am there again desperate to get my hands on the lens, not that there’s any particular need other than its mine – I paid for it, paid for them to deliver it, I want the Bloody thing NOW. Ba£$%rd place is all locked up and the arseholes are on strike, god knows what the lazy bunch of cretins have to strike over because sneaking a card through the door instead of carrying the parcel to the door is a regular occurrence with them.

Now I discover I have to go to Livingston tomorrow, which means spending half the evening parked up in traffic on the bloody M8 trying to get home again which will probably mean I cant go to collect it tomorrow AAARRRGGGGHHHHH

I’m going to calm down soaking in the bath for a couple of hours before I start testing objects aerodynamic qualities by throwing them across the room.

Toodle pip
